RE: First Pull !!!

If I remember 6" is the recommended clearance, but if you are more comfortable with more remember raising the hitch point will make it sit up higher in the front than the rear.

RE: newbie question

jlnix hit it right on the head, my suggestion to you is look into a tonner for your TV. It doesn't have to be a dually, but you should consider the crew cab. We have one in a dually long bed and it's just the DW and myself. You can pack things in the cab instead of the trailer plus you'll have the suspension to handle anything down the road. RVers are like boaters, when we're younger we contract twofootitis.

RE: Total GreenHorn Newbie

I've tried bio-diesel and won't use it again, I've got friends that burn nothing else. I didn't notice a difference in power but sure noticed a difference in mpgs, also the exhaust seemed to smell worse than usual. I agree with the other posts about the antenna.

RE: new type of RV?

The only thing like that I've heard of is a class A. Just seen it on RV TV yesterday, here's the link www.myrvtv.com . go to the episodes page and click on the one for Hershey PA campground. This class A is all electric inside, but is still powered by fossil fuel. You must be talking about a xcovered wagon pulled by horses. :B

RE: Best Battery...suggestions please...

Ditto what everyone else has said. What I did was went to the local Interstate dist. and bought one of their X-out deep cycles. There is nothing wrong with the battery except for a slight blemish on the case somewhere which will not allow Interstate to sell it with their labels on it. I paid $35 for a battery that retailed for approx. $80 . Then every spring before I put the battery back int the trailer I recondition it and fully charge it. My battery charger does all of this I just hook it up.

RE: Questions about becoming a Transport Driver

Just thought of something else, to have the truck covered for personal use and businees. I found Progressive to be the cheapest and they were $3800.00 yearly. You WILL get a ton of money back on your taxes but the Feds won't allow that forever.

RE: Questions about becoming a Transport Driver

I tried that for about 4 months last year, it was with a different company. I have been driving 18 wheelers for 30+ years and have been an owner-operator. My advice to anyone run run very fast in the other direction, unless you don't care about not making money or doing more sitting than transporting stay away from it. I don't know about your state but Illinois puts the max. weight on the plate registration you carry in the vehicle.

RE: 2008 puma

I used to transport RVs and I also found the Pumas, I transported, to be very heavy for their class. My 1 ton would drop from 16 MPG to around 10 MPG when pulling a Puma.

RE: RAIN

Go for it, just remember to keep your awning tilted enough for water run off, or if it'll be windy leave it up. You don't ever want to store an awning wet, if it gets wet make sure it is dry before it is stored. If you live close to camping you can unroll it, once you're home to let it dry.

RE: Anyone camp without satellite TV

We use the batwing for news and weather, otherwise if TV is on DVD player is runnung. I have noticed that my brothers-in-law always have a problem with their antennas, one has the conventional powered batwing and the other has an omni-directional kind. We're usually situated between them and never have a problem pulling in stations.
